What Is It And Why Does It Matter?
B Corp™ certification is awarded to companies that meet a highly standardised protocol of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
To become certified, businesses must complete the B Impact Assessment - a rigorous independent review that evaluates how a company operates across all areas of the business, from environmental practices and supply chains to employee wellbeing and governance.
To achieve certification, companies must score a minimum of 80 points across five key areas:
1. COMMUNITY
The ways in which a business contributes positively to its wider community, industry and social impact initiatives.
2. CUSTOMERS
How a company builds trust through customer experience, transparency and responsible handling of customer information.
3. ENVIRONMENT
The steps a business takes to reduce environmental impact and operate more sustainably across sourcing, production and operations.
4. GOVERNANCE
How a company is structured, managed and held accountable in relation to ethics, transparency and long-term decision making.
5. WORKERS
How employees are supported through fair treatment, wellbeing, development opportunities and a safe working environment.
